The 2026 British Open will take place this week at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, Merseyside, England. The Open Championship will be the final major of the 2026 golf season. This years tournament is the 154th Open Championship and it will be the 11th time the tournament is held at Royal Birkdale.
Scottie Scheffler is the favourite heading into the tournament. He is the defending champion after winning last years Open at Royal Portrush, and he remains the undisputed #1 golfer in the world. Rory McIlroy is the second favourite after winning the Masters for a second consecutive year in April, and he will be chasing his seventh major title this week. Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood are next before the odds lengthen to Rahm, Gotterup, Morikawa, Aberg, and Schauffele.
