How To Bet On NCAA March Madness from Canada

By Basketball

The NCAA basketball tournament is a huge betting event each year, even up here in Canada.  Filling out NCAA tournament brackets in a variety of contests has become the norm for Canadian sports fans, and this exposure seems to create a lot of interest in the tournament that translates into betting. Add in the fact that R.J. Barrett, arguably the best Canadian basketball prospect of all-time is playing for NCAA Championship favourites Duke and this could be a big March Madness betting year here in Canada.

I personally don’t follow college basketball during the season, but I binge watch (and bet) the NCAA tournament.  The games are exciting and the single elimination aspect adds a ton of pressure to each single game and play.  I know there are a lot of others like me who enjoy their weekends in March more because of the college basketball action.

On this page I will outline the best sportsbook for betting on the NCAA tournament, look at the pre-tournament odds and provide a 3 step guide to getting bets placed online for this years March Madness.

NCAA Tournament Champion Odds

Here is a screenshot of the odds to win the 2018-19 NCAA Basketball Championship from Sports Interaction.  These odds were taken at the start of March, so the Conference Tournaments had not been played yet.  To see the updated odds head over to and select ‘Basketball’ -> ‘USA’ -> ‘NCAA Futures’.

I included all of the teams with odds of 50/1 or better in the screenshot.

As you can see Duke is the big favourite heading into the tournament, even though they have not looked great since losing Zion Williamson to injury. That said, with him back in the lineup, Duke is easily the most talented team in the tournament. It will just come down to whether they can put it all together and stay consistent throughout March Madness.

I think any of the teams with odds of 17.00 or better have a legitimate shot at winning the tournament. North Carolina has had terrific year to have odds of 15/1 at this point.

I like Duke, but I can’t bet them at odds as short as above. I kind of like LSU as a longshot play at 50/1. They have wins over Tennessee and Kentucky, and are flying under the radar while leading the SEC.
