The 2022 MLB Playoffs will have a new format that will see 12 teams qualify for the playoffs. The top two division winners in the American and National leagues will receive first-round byes into the Division Series, while the 3rd to 6th place finishers in each league will play in best-of-three Wild Card series. The winners will advance to the Division Series, which will be best-of-five games, followed by the League Championship Series and World Series, both of which are best-of-seven. The World Series is expected to begin on October 28th.
The Toronto Blue Jays qualified as the 4th seed in the American League and will host the Seattle Mariners in a Wild Card Series. If Toronto advances they will meet the top seeded Houston Astros in the Division Series.
