PSG defeated Inter Milan in last years Champions League Finals. That victory was the first time PSG has won Champions League and only the second time a Ligue 1 team has won the title (Marseille won the inaugural Champions League back in 1993). PSG are one of the favourites, along with Barcelona and Liverpool, to defend their title at the start of the 2025-26 Champions League tournament.
This will be the second year with the new Champions League format. There will be a 36 team league phase which will will see each team playing 8 games against different opponents, with all teams ranked in a single joint group. The number of matches will increase from 125 in the traditional group stage to 189 matches in this league phase. The top 8 teams from the league phase will advance to the round of 16, while the teams ranked 9th to 24th will compete in a two-legged play-off round to qualify for the round of 16, and the teams ranked 25th to 36th eliminated from the competition.

Champions League Winner Odds
I’m updating this article in mid-September, just before the 2025-26 Champions League league phase begins. The league phase will continue until January 28th, 2026, followed by 24 teams progressing to the knockout stage, with the finals scheduled to take place on May 30th, 2026 at Puskas Arena in Budapest.
