Two of the top lightweights fighting out of Quebec will meet in a 12 round bout when Dzmitry Asanau takes on Luis Santana this Thursday, October 8th at the Capitole de Québec in Quebec City. The fight is part of an Eye of the Tiger Management card and will stream live on DAZN.
Dzmitry Asanau is a two-time Olympian for Belarus who has built his professional career in Montreal. He is undefeated at 13-0 and holds the WBC Continental Americas lightweight title. Asanau’s power has caught up to his technical skill over his last few fights, and he enters this bout on a run of three straight stoppage wins, most recently a sixth round stoppage of Roger Gutierrez at the Montreal Casino in June.
Luis Santana is a Montreal native with 13 professional wins, six of them by stoppage. He won the NABF lightweight title earlier this year with a victory over Chann Thonson, and he is known locally for his willingness to stand and trade, highlighted by his Fight of the Night decision win over Sebastian Aguirre in 2024. The two fighters know each other well, having shared rounds as sparring partners during Asanau’s camp for one of his earlier title defences.
